BINIBABES ISSUE 27: ABBIE RODEN SANDBACH

This week we grab a cosy corner with Abbie Roden Sandbach - Kentucky Born & London-based, Abbie is the Founder of RODEN & Co-Founder of amie. We chat to Abbie about juggling business & baby life as well as what she's got in store for 2026.

Tell us about your family...

My husband and I have a one-year-old son, Teddie.

How have you found becoming a mama for the first time?

Challenging, but also amazing. I found the beginning really rough. Running two businesses whilst trying to figure out how to be a mom was really tough. It has been the best though, when he smiles it reminds me that family is all that really matters.

You're Founder of two businesses with a third opening this spring! How do you make the juggle work?

My husband and amie business partner - Will, my business partner for RODEN Talent - Lucy, and our amazing team. They are so creative and are all full of ideas; they are what makes our businesses thrive. We also have childcare for Teddie 4.5 days a week; I wouldn't be able to work if it weren't for that! We are surrounded by such hardworking people and none of what we do would be possible without them.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to start their own business?

It might be challenging and there might be hurdles along the way, but most likely you won't regret it.

"

If your gut is telling you to go for it - go for it!

What is your favourite part of your job?

Every day is different! Truly no two days are the same. Sometimes I will be on a photoshoot, sometimes I'll be in meetings all day with the team. It's rare that I get lots of laptop time as we always have things that we are discussing or brainstorming together.

What have you got planned for 2026?

We have a few things up our sleeves! One being the opening of Weezie's, our new space in Eccleston Yards, right next door to amie wine studio. Weezie's is the sister space to amie wine studio, carrying the same ethos and personality, but with a bigger offering: pizza, pints, and a couple of cocktails, alongside great wines.

What is your favourite part of being a mama?

Seeing Teddie smile or laugh - it cures a bad mood in an instant!

And the most challenging...?

The juggle. I have so many ideas and I want to do SO MUCH professionally. The realistic reality is that women can't do it all anymore once they have kids. It's much more challenging. I read once that it isn't possible to work full-time if you're a mom and I do think that's true. I am working almost full-time however, there is no way that I'm able to work as much as I was before.

"

My new favourite phrase that my husband taught me recently is: 'you can have it all, but not all at once' - meaning, we can work towards all of these ides, but realistically, we can't do all of them at the same time.

Is there anything you wish you knew before becoming a mama?

If you're a business owner, you may think you have all your ducks in a row before trying to take mat leave, but just be prepared that it could all shift and change.

I thought that I was going to be able to take at least 3 months off from work, but an employee resigned when I was 3 weeks postpartum and that was it, I was back at work. I didn't really get to enjoy a mat leave and it was sad. But what I wish I knew before was that it WILL be okay, even if that happens, everything will work out so try your best not to worry too much.

What traits would you like to inspire in Teddie

I'd love for Teddie to be humble, to be kind, to be empathetic and caring. I'd love for him to have a faith too, so that he has something to believe in.

What is your top tired mama tip?

Get sleep when you can! I love being in bed by 9:30, it's the best feeling! And take time for yourself.

"

Don't feel guilty for booking into a class or going to get a blow out - you need time for you so that you can be the best version of yourself for your babies.

Beauty product you swear by

I love the Mecca Cosmetica In Good Light Illuminating Drops. They give your skin such a dewy look and they are SPF30.

Abbie's top BINI picks

Well first off I am OBSESSED with BINI. Obsessed. The products are so gorgeous and the quality is truly so great.

"

The Buggy Mitts keep your hands so warm and cozy in the winter! I love them and my husband does too!

"

The Puffmuff is also a game changer in the Winter - it's like a big soft cozy sleeping bag that goes over the pram!

"

Teddie looks so adorable in the Snugglejacket, and it's nice and warm. We've received so many compliments on it.

"

When Teddie was in the pram bassinet, the Snuggler was the cosiest addition to keep him snuggled up.
