BINIBLOG / 5

This week on the BINIBLOG we catch up with Georgie Holt, Founder of Creative Agency, The Joint Agency. Mama to two young Binibabes, Georgie shares her hopes for her family & what Motherhood means to her.

Tell us about your family...

Now I have the privilege of saying ‘mi familia’, as myself and my partner A moved to Spain 2 years ago to have our first golden boy Albie. We live 10 minutes from the beach in València in a remote little town we love to call our casita.

My first boy with the biggest heart is obsessed with the water and will find any excuse to be in it and my second has just arrived Leo, my lion boy, the calmest, the one who brings so much light into our lives and completes us. It makes me light up when Albie introduces Leo to everyone and says ‘my brother’. They have an extremely special bond.

Then my rock of a partner A, ridiculously talented movement coach, and all around multi-faceted endlessly giving, selfless father. I’m blessed to have three beautiful boys surrounding me.

How have you found going from one to two Binibabes?

When I got pregnant with my first I was aware I’d have to make some sacrifices. But, having two has meant sacrificing a lot of ‘free time’. I definitely have less time to train or workout, but it’s such a joy to find any excuse to take them to the beach, the park or away to a town like San Sebastián. PLAY and JOY — two words that have taken on a whole different meaning for me and seeing my two little ones learning from each other gives me the most happiness.

"It’s tiring, I don’t sleep at night and my nervous system is more challenged with the juggling. But, I thank them every day for making me their mama."

What traits would you like to inspire in your Binibabes?

I’d like to inspire freedom. Freedom to pick whatever path in life they want or choose to take. To know I’ll always be here to protect and nourish them and sometimes I won’t be perfect, but not put limits on their likes / dislikes or where they want to explore. Another thing is to always treat people how you want to be treated and look to help those that need our help. Volunteering when I have some more time available is something I want to show them the importance of. There’s always someone who needs more help than you.

What is your favourite part of motherhood?

Getting to love two other human beings. My favourite part of the role of mother is waking up every day and knowing I get the gift of making their day a little bit sunnier. Thinking of what to cook my eldest is so much fun for me, with my first job being a chef. I’m back in the kitchen but with much less pressure and every day I can check in with how he’s feeling and show him new tricks.

Is there anything which has supported you during the post-partum period?

Post-partum is a tough shift back into what will never be your previous body (which is a good thing as you always grow from whatever lesson it gives you). I decided to hire one of the most phenomenal fascia release and postural awareness specialists Shannon Nichols (@stable.bliss) who has transformed my connection to my body and what it is I need to feel strong to carry my boys every day. We specifically focus on structural alignment in the hips and getting my hip back to a confident function after my Psoas injury that had me not able to walk a week before my second son was born.

"Overall, connecting to your body, breathing and feeling grateful any spare moment you get is profound."

And finally please can you share your top mama tips...

I guess that you're reading this because you want to find a snippet of wisdom or hear another mama’s story to feel less alone. I wish I could tell myself before I had my first that I was the perfect mother for him and had everything figured out and didn’t need any advice. Because, he chose me and will always choose me. As long as I mother from a place of pure love, authenticity and truth I will always be good enough for myself and them both. Oh and drop any moments that get too serious. Your kids are there to help you to be more playful!
