How have you found becoming a mama the second time round?
“This time around, you know what to expect a bit more, both good and bad.”
You know that these sleepless nights won’t last forever, but you also know that these tiny cuddly baby days won’t either so cling on to them tight!
Any sleep tips?
“I don’t think I’m in the place to give out sleep tips - I am more in need of receiving some!”
The only thing I’ve tried to do this time is to lay Dillon down in her crib when she is drowsy and allow her to fall asleep on her own. I ended up rocking my first daughter Joni to sleep for every nap and it meant it took a lot longer for her to learn how to fall asleep on her own.
4th trimester. Fact or fiction?
Fact! The first time around I was very focused on the changes my body would undergo throughout my pregnancy and it came as a bit of a shock that dramatic changes would continue afterwards too. I think it’s helpful to view pregnancy as a year long experience to give you a much more realistic expectation of yourself and your body.
Tired mama style tip
“Concealer, sunglasses and coffee. Every. Day.”
Mother who inspires you?
My Mum. My parents had four daughters within five years, which I now consider to be totally nuts! But she has encouraged and loved each of us with her full capacity, even becoming a single parent during our teen years after the loss of our Dad. I’m constantly asking for her advice. Hopefully my daughters will grow up to be as well rounded and adjusted as me (jokes).
